As a writer, you have spent countless hours on your manuscript, and now that you have rewritten and revised, gotten a developmental edit, and rewritten and revised some more, you are ready for your work to go through a copyedit. My role is to check texts for factual accuracy, grammatical correctness, narrative flow, clarity of thought, point out any plot holes, and structural coherence. Copyediting can be light, medium, or heavy, depending on the level of intensity requested. 

This is a less intense review of your manuscript. The heavy lifting happened in the copyedit, and this is the final pass through before it goes to the publisher. The goal of a proofread is to catch anything missed in the copyedit. 

Rather than focusing on grammar and the mechanics of your writing, developmental editing for fiction is meant to help you strengthen your characterization, storytelling style, and story structure. Are the details of the characters consistent? Do you maintain tension throughout the story? For nonfiction material, developmental editing's goal is to ensure the information is presented in a logical and compelling way for the target audience and that the information is delivered in a well-structured, effective manner. 

We are happy to write or rewrite passages that you request help with. This service is integrated with copyediting as suggestions, but it is especially useful for website copy.
